Tired of the overly-blue theme and the total non-sequitur of bunnies and sub-aquatic sunbeams, I found another theme to liven things up a bit.

Try not to get too excited, it's bad for your heart.

Due to the persistence of Douchebag Spammer-bots signing up and posting their garbage wherever they can get a packet in edgewise, I've made it so that user signup must be verified by a live human.

I know this may inconvenience the hordes of real people who are signing up to this lively board on a daily basis, but it's all for the best...

...unless the one or two of you who visit this site every six months actually enjoy incoherent, poorly formatted blathering about fake Rolex watches WoW powerleveling services, and luv-u-longtime porn sites. No, I'm not talking about my own posts.

Yes, I know it's old news, and undoubtedly anybody who has any interest in this subject already knows that the demo was released on Friday. But my passion for a complete historical record demands that I make a note of it here.

I would have mentioned it earlier, but I was kinda busy playing the demo, naturally.

Gentlemen, start polishing your rocket launchers, because last night Mark "Two Weeks" Rein announced on the official Epic Games forum that the Unreal Tournament 3 beta demo release is freaking nigh.

And unlike the last time this happened, when Mr. Rein was misinterpreted as saying the demo would be ready in two weeks, this time he has actually stated, "...so it could come out this week but for safety sake I'd say it should be out within two weeks."

So this time, if Epic fails to deliver on Mark's announcement, the angry nerds of the Internets will actually be justified in storming Epic's gates and hot-branding "TWO WEEKS" across Mark Rein's forehead.

But I'm guessing Mr. Rein wouldn't chance inviting another firestorm of gamer wrath upon himself, and therefore is pretty damn sure that the demo is going to be ready within the next fourteen days.

Yes, I've upgraded to the latest version of e107, and found a new generic and hopefully eye-pleasing (or at least non-eye-assaulting) theme for the site. I spent no less than three minutes customising the title graphics, as well, so don't forget to heap praise upon my artistic sensibilities.

"But, hey, you vapid canker-blossom," you ask, "What in the name of Boutros Boutros-Ghali has this rather aquatic theme got to do with soft cuddly bunnies in any way, shape, or form, you tin-witted fustilarian?"

The answer is: Absolutely nothing! I just find the cool blue colors pleasant to look at during this sweltering almost-summer weather. But if it really bothers you, just imagine bunnies in scuba gear, and it will all make sense.

Anyway, you can vote your approval or disapproval for this new color scheme, and based on your opinions, I will leap into action and ignore you completely.

Okay, so it's not the most timely news, but in case you haven't heard, Epic has chosen to rename the latest installment of the Unreal Tournament series to a simple, yet effective "Unreal Tournament 3".

This is a total relief to those of us who feel that a game name which can be abbreviated to a minimum of five symbols is too goddamned long.

The departure from the Madden-like year designation also gets Epic off the hook for needing to actually release the game in 2007. Not that they plan to delay the game until 2008 or anything, I'm just sayin'...

You may (or may not) have notice that the site was down for the last two days. This is what happens when you activate your new credit card and your website is being billed to the old one.

Anyway, we're back and life is grand once more. Dig it.
